Luciano Sorlini didn't just have Art as his passion. Since he was a boy he approached the world of flight by participating in model aircraft courses held by R.U.N.A (Royal National Aeronautical Union) thus building various model aircraft. He obtained the Flight Patent in 1952 and in 1956 he obtained, as the first non-professional civilian pilot in Italy, the instrumental flight qualification (this type of qualification allows, on suitably instrumented aircraft, to fly in the absence of visibility). He also participated in numerous air races including the Air Tour of Lombardy, the Esaveneto and the Tour of Sicily, always qualifying among the first. Many were the planes he flew over the years, including several historic planes His first aircraft was the “Macchino” or the Macchi MB308 which was followed by a Swedish Saab Safir 91C, an avant-garde aircraft for the time. In 1960 he suspended all flying activities to devote himself entirely to his new company. He will pick up again in 1980 by purchasing a Beechcraft Bonanza currently in the collection. It was in these years that he became passionate about the restoration of historic aircraft. Currently the planes, located in the hangars of Calvagese and Ceresara (Mantova), are owned by the daughter Silvia who, together with her husband Giovanni Marchi keeps them flying. Flying Museum: this is the title of the fascinating and unusual fly-in which took place on 2 June 2019 from 10 to sunset at the San Martino airfield in Ceresara (Mantova, Italy) in it’s last edition. A real museum flying in the skies, since rare and precious historical planes took part that will fly over the field. Spectators (by the way, admittance is free) were able to admire some of the aircraft that were owned by the Brescia entrepreneur Luciano Sorlini (1925-2015), a great passionate about flight. Also other planes and warbirds of considerable historical interest owned by their daughter Silvia Sorlini and her husband Giovanni were present as well as other historical planes The fly-in, in its fourth edition, was under the aegis of the Municipality of Ceresara, the MarteS Museum, Luciano Sorlini s.p.a. and collaborates with AOPA Italy. All the historic planes that will participate are airworthy. The public was able to see them lined up on the runway and in the air, since they landed and take off throughout the day. In addition, guided tours wereorganized together with their pilots and owners and will reveal stories, anecdotes and aircraft secrets. After many efforts, difficulties and unforeseen events, the hangar destined to house the Flying Museum is finally usable! To worthily celebrate the event, 3 Fiat G46s met at Ceresara, flying in formation (for the first time in 70 years), on 2 June 2022!

Luciano Sorlini spa entered the aeronautical sector in the early 1980s, following the family's passion for flying which Silvia, daughter of Luciano and President of the Company, still shares today with the same intensity. Born in Brescia in 1925, Luciano has dedicated himself, since he was a boy, model aircraft by attending the courses organized by RUNA. In the early 1960s, he gave up flying to devote himself to an enterprise of his own, leaving the family business and founding a plant for the production of explosives for civilian use, Explo. In 1980 the old interest in flying reappears and he buys the Beech Bonanza A36TC I-LSBV (in the collection), and his passion is such that it becomes a real company for general aviation. The adventure began in 1981: overhaul of engines and components in the Carzago workshop and overhaul of airframes in the Montegaldella workshop. Luciano was a visionary, a man of many interests, among other things he also raced some editions of the Mille Miglia, in the years when it was not just a historical re-enactment, it can be said that he had three great passions in his life: women, planes and art. Generally speaking he loved Beauty. He has always had great esteem and consideration for women. Art has been decisive in his life: in the 1960s he began to frequent Venice, he was fascinated by it and took over the palace on the Grand Canal, formerly the home of the Grimani family. From the same property he later acquired the Castle of Montegalda in Vicenza. Many know Luciano Sorlini Spa, not only for the marketing and assistance of the entire Rotax galaxy for aviation, but also for the workshops specialized in maintenance and restoration, and for the Flying Museum, whose planes, all in perfect flying condition, mostly come from Luciano Sorlini's personal collection. Thanks to the commitment and considerable economic efforts, an organization was set up, unique of its kind in Italy and among the first in Europe, capable of dealing with periodic maintenance and overhauls of general aviation aircraft, engines and their components and equipment and the sale of any spare parts. The company makes use of workers of proven ability and experience, in particular all the operational and technical personnel have been qualified through repeated specific courses at aircraft and engine manufacturers and are then constantly updated through periodic training. Luciano Sorlini Spa is an EASA PART 145 and FAA Repair Station certified workshop for the maintenance and overhaul of single-engine piston aircraft, Lycoming, Continental and Rotax engines, carburetors, injection systems, magnetos, starters and alternators, hydraulic components, flexible pipes and cables command, flight instruments. Installation and periodic verification of radio and navigation equipment, periodic verification control equipment and non-destructive testing (penetrant liquids and magnetic powders). It is also EASA PART-M Certified Company for the management of continuous navigability (CAMO), and exclusive dealer for Rotax Engines (Italy and other countries), Dealer Hoffmann Propeller and Trig Avionics.

Curti Company has decades of experience in the production of complex parts for certified helicopters. Matching state-of-the-art materials and technology with the passion for flying deeply rooted in the company’s DNA, Zefhir represents the perfect synthesis between competence and intuition. Zefhir is one-of-a-kind; a jewel by Curti Aerospace Division. A unique turbine helicopter, designed to become the go-to brand for the air mobility needs of the future. Zefhir is a unique technology, and is the first helicopter in the world to be fitted with an innovative ballistic parachute rescue system. Installed above the main rotor, the parachute is designed as a backup for conditions where autorotation cannot be performed, such as flight control failure or loss of manoeuvrability; flying over an area where emergency landing cannot be performed safely; flight conditions that prevent restoring rotor rotation speed. The system was successfully tested for the first time in aviation history at Oristano-Fenosu Airport in June 2018. During the test, the helicopter reached forward flight at 30 knots above 300 meters of altitude. The engine was then deliberately turned off to simulate its failure. The helicopter’s descent speed stabilized at less than 7.5 m/s (27 km/h). The ground impact resulted in deceleration peaks well within those required for the safeguarding of human life, as routinely assessed in crash tests for the aeronautic and automotive industries. The system is in fact designed to save the crew’s lives, not necessarily the airframe. The parachute canopy was fully deployed in about 6 seconds, leading to a minimum deployment altitude of 150 meters (450ft). The system is designed to be deployed even at the maximum forward speed. Thanks to an innovative rotor brake, the quick stop of the rotors after the engine stop determines a quite immediate passage from forward flight to vertical fall, at the same time avoiding the wash-down effect of the main rotor blades, which could slow down the deployment of the canopy. The helicopter lands with the engine and rotor fully stopped: a condition that helps to prevent dangerous situations for the crew and for the potentially involved third parties. Designed following EASA CS-27 specifications, the crashworthy seats and landing gear pair ergonomic comfort with extra safety. If you can, auto-rotate. But if you can’t, the parachute will save your life! Attention to detail, passion for beauty, creativity beyond imagination. Zefhir is a jewel of modern technology and materials, right down to its elegant lines and exclusive style interiors.

Wingcopter is a German manufacturer of eVTOL, fixed-wing unmanned aircraft systems (UAS) and provider of drone delivery services, focused on optimizing medical supply chains, as well as last-mile logistics of packages, tools, spare parts, food, and groceries. The 120-strong team is dedicated to improving and saving lives worldwide through meaningful commercial and humanitarian applications. Thanks to its patented tilt-rotor mechanism and software algorithms, the Wingcopter 198 can take off and land vertically like a multicopter, while flying long distances as efficiently and quickly as a fixed-wing aircraft, even in rain and strong winds. 12,000 Wingcopters for world’s largest commercial drone deployment - Continental Drones and Wingcopter to transform African supply chains and logistics from the ground up May 19, 2022, Accra, Ghana / Weiterstadt, Germany — German drone delivery pioneer Wingcopter and Continental Drones Ltd., a subsidiary of Ghana- and Dubai-based Atlantic Trust Holding, have signed a partnership agreement to help establish drone-based delivery networks with thousands of Wingcopter drones across the African continent. These networks will dramatically improve the reliability and efficiency of existing supply chains but also help create completely new ones. The companies today announced that Continental Drones has become a Wingcopter Authorized Partner (WAPP) for all 49 sub-Saharan countries. Over the next five years, the goal of the two partners is to deploy 12,000 Wingcopter 198, the world's most advanced delivery drone, throughout Africa, making it the largest commercial deployment in the global delivery drone industry to date. In many African regions, insufficient infrastructure is one of the biggest barriers to universal health coverage and economic development. Setting up large-scale drone delivery networks across African airspace will propel logistics in these countries to a new level and help build an entirely new transport framework - much faster, cheaper, more sustainable, and more efficient than the development of conventional ground-based infrastructure with all its unhealthy and climate-damaging emissions. Bridging the infrastructure gap through the deployment of large fleets of Wingcopter drones, even in the most remote places, will allow governments and the private sector to leapfrog inefficient infrastructure to climate-neutral, reliable, and fast logistic capabilities. Wingcopter’s technology will be deployed to improve the livelihoods of millions of African people, for example through the on-demand delivery of medicines, vaccines, or laboratory samples but also essential goods for daily use. In addition, it has the potential to turbocharge the economic development of the countries in which the Wingcopter networks will be established by connecting communities more effectively and by creating thousands of new job opportunities to operate these delivery networks. As the Wingcopter 198 is fully electric, it contributes to a more sustainable African logistics sector and help move economies towards net zero emissions. “Together with Wingcopter, we are committed to accelerate the development and economic integration of Africa by enabling the creation of drone-based delivery networks across the continent. With our longstanding business experience on the ground and Wingcopter's best-in-class drone technology, these networks offer a real chance to fuel economic development and help improve the livelihood of millions. African nations show true leadership by implementing this cutting-edge technology for the better of their people and generations to come”, comments Alexander Asiedu, Founder of Continental Drones and Chairman of Atlantic Trust Holding. Tom Plümmer, Co-Founder and CEO of Wingcopter, adds: “This agreement and trustful partnership is a real game-changer, positioning Wingcopter and Continental Drones at the top of the drone delivery industry. Wingcopter is well positioned to execute against the tremendous opportunity of drone delivery in the next decade. We are convinced that our cooperation with Alex and his Continental Drones team will unlock the African drone delivery market on a large scale, allowing us to jointly improve and save millions of lives.” Wingcopter is a WEF Technology Pioneer. Wingcopter’s investors include Xplorer Capital, Futury Capital, ITOCHU, DRONE FUND, SYNERJET, Expa, Hessen Kapital III, and Corecam Capital Partners.

edm aerotec GmbH was founded on April 4th, 2011. The foundation stone was laid in the Geisleden industrial park on July 8th, 2011 and after a short construction period, the new premises were occupied on November 1st, 2011. In a working area of 2400 m², 30 employees develop, design and manufacture ultralight helicopters as well as repair and assemble machines and systems. The company has an electrical department that can process and manufacture a wide variety of electrical projects using modern 3D software. In the development and construction department, the designers work with the latest 3D CAD software from SolidWorks. Their own CFRP production enables parts to be manufactured quickly and reliably. The idea of developing their own air sports equipment arose from the passion for ultralight aviation, by company owner Engelbert Dreiling. After discussions with experienced fellow pilots, designers, the Federal Aviation Office and the German Ultralight Association, this idea became increasingly concrete. The comparatively low costs for a UL helicopter, its maintenance and repairs and obtaining a corresponding flight license make such a project increasingly interesting for a new target group. My name is Glorymar Hernandez, but I prefer to be called “Glory”. I was born in the capital of Venezuela, Caracas, and grew up amid the crowds of the city, the tranquility of the Andean mountains and the joy of the Caribbean coast. A mixture that has taught me to enjoy wherever I am, that aroused my curiosity to know the world, and that has helped me to adapt, with relative ease, to changes. I have a degree in Philosophy, my research works are in Philosophy of Language. Since 2019 I have been working as a Spanish teacher. I decided to start teaching my mother tongue thanks to my experience learning other languages. I had the opportunity to live for a year in Ireland, where I went to learn English and, currently, I am in Italy, where I have had the opportunity to learn Italian. These experiences allowed me to realize that, although seeking perfection when trying to “speak like a native” is the ideal, what really matters is being able to communicate, make ourselves understood and be open to the experience of knowing other cultures and understand that there are many different points of view. Professionally, I have had the opportunity to work in different contexts such as banking, outsourcing consular procedures, and teaching at university level. The biggest lesson I learned from these experiences is that I am not an office person. I prefer to own my time and have the freedom to work wherever I am. For this reason, I have decided to dedicate myself to teaching Spanish online and to enter the digital world. I consider myself a very curious and versatile person, that is why in my free time I enjoy handcrafting (such as sewing or knitting), volunteering, being in contact with nature, and trying to learn new things, like playing the guitar. Regarding my geographical preferences, the beach and the mountains are my main refuges, because I can escape from the noise of the city and connect with myself. That is why I would like to be able to live with my husband on a mountain, not far from the sea.

My name is Luis Guillermo Castro Martin. I am a philosopher specialized in philosophy of mind and language. In particular, I am interested in the nature of consciousness, and the way in which we experience and interpret the world. I started my studies at the Central University of Venezuela in 2006, where I obtained a bachelor’s degree in philosophy (2011) and a master’s degree in logic and philosophy of science (2015). In 2012, the university offered me a position as a professor of philosophy and I taught several courses there until 2017, when I enrolled in a PhD program at the University of Genoa, Italy. I have also published several papers in philosophy journals and participated in various international events. In 2020, while writing my PhD thesis, I realized that I had been immersed in philosophy for too long and decided to use my experience to rejoin the real world. In my years studying philosophy, I have learned many things, but the most important is that the world is what we make of it, there is no ultimate truth, no final word. We create our reality. Knowledge has somehow separated us from others and nature, perhaps it can also reunite us. Although I was born in Venezuela, my family is a blending of different nationalities and traditions. I have lived and studied in different countries, which are all part of who I am and what I want to be. My actions define me, not my nationality or my origins. I do not believe in borders or limits; they are only in our minds. The sensation of not belonging can be liberating, once we realize that, by not belonging somewhere, we belong everywhere. I speak three languages (Spanish, English, and Italian) and I enjoy learning from other cultures, as well as transmitting the values of my own. I also enjoy music, sports and nature. I am the author of “Fragments of Mind” on Substack. A space for thinking outside the box, while discussing philosophical matters.

Giovanni Nicelli Airport is located in the prestigious setting of Lido of Venice, in the northern part of the island just ten minutes by boat from the city center. The air terminal, an example of perfectly preserved architecture, started in 1930s and solemnly inaugurated on 4 February 1935, is the oldest trading post in Italy. In 2014 the airport was included in the ranking of the ten most beautiful in the world by the BBC edited by Jonathan Glancey. Equipped with elegant interior spaces and large gardens and outdoor terraces, it is the ideal location for meetings and conferences, private dinners and events, exclusive parties, art exhibitions and film shoots. In 1915, with Italy's entry into the war against the Central Empires, the priceless artistic heritage of Venice was exposed to bombing by Austrian aircraft. The danger did not leave the French government indifferent, which proposed sending some fighters to protect the city. The offer was accepted by our staff and on 13 August of the same year, 36 men commanded by pilot captain Michel de Chalonge, left Lyon for the lagoon city who conducted 63 effective actions on strategic objectives. The initial deployment near Mestre proved unsuitable for timely interception of enemy aircraft before their arrival on the lagoon, thus making it necessary to search for a new base. With an original choice, the Navy Command, in charge of the Venetian stronghold, decided to create an airfield from the parade ground of the Fort of S. Nicolò al Lido. The space, enlarged with the demolition of some smaller buildings, demonstrated the feasibility of the project and on December 1st, after three months of work, the French squadron moved to the new headquarters, thus marking the birth of the Lidense airport, the current Nicelli. The choice was a happy one. The captain and his pilots, housed in the Hotel Paradiso, were often at the center of a worldly interest also favored by the excellent cuisine ensured by the four accompanying chefs. The department had illustrious visitors such as the Prince of Wales, the future King Edward VIII, the writer Celine, and an exceptional godmother, the charming Baroness Nicola Winspeare Guicciardi. Gabriele D’Annunzio will become a regular of the place while the high Venetian aristocracy will open up more and more to French pilots. The presence of Gabriele d'Annunzio at the Lido, who moved from the famous Casetta Rossa on the Grand Canal in Via Lepanto 24, to participate in the risky events of the Adriatic war, represents a historical fact not without charm which was not overlooked by the French aviators who knew the artistic and worldly successes of the poet in their country. A singular proof of this admiration can be found in an image of a Spad plane on the Lido field with the inscription “Perhaps that yes perhaps that no”, the title of a famous work by the poet. During his life in Lidense D'Annunzio also confirmed himself as a creative in the field of military art, contributing in an original and effective way to the daring and insidious guerrilla warfare to be conducted at sea and in the air which Tahon di Revel himself had announced. The presence of D'Annunzio on the Lido field, the current Nicelli, was assiduous and creative. Commander of a Caproni squadron he experimented for the first time in Italy with the use of land torpedo bombers until the needs of the war required the full use of the unit on the land front. The Air Torpedo Squadron, created to emulate the legendary strikes from the air landed by the MAS flotilla, will therefore become a bombing unit, also based at the Lido airport, reinforced with SIA 9B aircraft. In October, Commander D'Annunzio will change her name and motto: he will call her S. Marco and for the motto he will abandon the Latin of "sufficit animus" for the Venetian word of "tu con nu nu con ti".

When it comes to defining and developing electric aircraft, VoltAero’s expertise can be summed up in one statement: “Been there, done that!” The VoltAero team has a combined 80-plus years of expertise in electric aircraft, with the unique experience of developing and flying three e-airplanes since 2011. Its first aircraft was the Electric Cri-Cri, an ultra-lightweight airplane powered by four electric motors. With a propulsive power of 20 kilowatts, this single-seat aircraft provided highly valuable knowledge in areas of battery charging and electric system integration. The next step was E-FAN, which made history in 2015 by becoming the first all-electric commercial aircraft to cross the English Channel. E-FAN increased the propulsive power to 60 kilowatts, and broadened the team’s know-how in power management and battery operation. This led to the Cassio 1 flying testbed, which is validating the powertrain for VoltAero’s production Cassio aircraft – in particular, the company’s proprietary hybrid propulsion module, which combines electric motors and a thermal engine. Cassio 1’s propulsive power of 600 kilowatts represents the rating for VoltAero’s top-of-the range, 10-seat Cassio 600 version. VoltAero CEO and Chief Technology Officer Jean Botti and Technical Director Didier Esteyne were the driving force behind these three pioneering electric aircraft. Botti led the Electric Cri-Cri and E-Fan programs in his role as Airbus’ Chief Technical Officer, while the aircraft were developed with the support of Esteyne and his team at France’s Aéro Composites Saintonge. Building on the VoltAero team’s expertise, the company is ready to usher in a new era of safe, efficient and eco-friendly electric flight.
