At Horizon Aircraft, we are building the next generation of eVTOL machines. With a focus on safety, practicality, and operational flexibility, multiple patents protect a first-of-its-kind design. We are on track to have our sub-scale prototype flying in Q1 2021 and are excited to be building a better future for our next generation. Our story. When Brian Robinson faced an expensive engine overhaul to his 1946 Republic Seabee, his engineering talents and creativity led him to explore alternative options. Tired of 1930s technology with poor fuel efficiency and reliability, he devised a plan to develop a new power plant for his aircraft, moving it into Transport Canada’s flexible Amateur-Built category. Extensive research led to selection of the famous V8 GM Corvette LS-series engine. This automobile engine offered the advantage of modern systems such as air conditioning, exceptional power-to-weight ratio, and high reliability. To this configuration he added a custom gear reduction drive alongside many additional safety features such as dual fuel pumps, dual batteries to meet aviation needs. Engine power was increased from 215 HP to over 450 HP with significantly improved fuel efficiency, reliability, and safety. As popular as the V8 Seabee engine conversion was, Brian fostered a deep-seated idea that had taken root long before the V8 Seabee ever flew. Simply, he wanted to build a new Seabee. Not a replica of the 1946 design; Brian wanted to design a new all-season amphibious aircraft with advanced safety systems that would be the modern reflection of an aircraft that many had grown to love. It wasn’t long before Brian had convinced a visionary financier to join him in the quest to design a modern amphibious aircraft. Design efforts soon began in earnest. Fortunately, Brian had a ready-made experimental aircraft on which to test many of the advanced systems that would be used on the new design. And so began the formal developmental work on an X3 prototype design on the Seabee, a fitting way to begin at the beginning. The X3 later pivoted into the X5 Cavorite as urban air mobility with eVTOL aircraft became technically feasible.

Shuttleworth is an aeronautical and automotive museum located at the Old Warden Aerodrome in England. It is the oldest in the world and one of the most prestigious, due to the variety of old and well-preserved aircraft. The collection was founded in 1928 by aviator Richard Ormonde Shuttleworth. While flying a Fairey Battle at night on 2 August 1940, Shuttleworth fatally crashed. His mother, in 1944, formed the Richard Ormonde Shuttleworth Remembrance Trust "for the teaching of the science and practice of aviation and of afforestation and agriculture." Since then, the Shuttleworth exists to promote training and discovery in the knowledge and skills of agriculture and of aviation and automotive technology. The ambition of the Shuttleworth is to be recognized as a world-class centre for skills and experiences. It has world-class heritage; a secure rural estate; a strong College partner; an unbroken century of preserving unique heritage aviation skills; a loyal supporter base; and passionate staff and volunteers. In addition to the aircraft, the collection houses a number of vintage and veteran cars. Events include model-flying days, and once a year, there is a special flying day for schools in the area. The Shuttleworth Collection puts an emphasis on restoring as many aircraft as possible to flying condition, in line with the founder's original intention. There are typically about ten air shows per year, including evening displays and an annual Flying Proms event, which offer the opportunity to see aircraft which in many cases are the last of their type to survive, let alone existing in flyable condition. Shuttleworth is also the perfect place for a family day out. People can go and enjoy their amazing gardens, follow the woodland sculpture trail and discover a unique collection of vintage aircraft, all set in 875 acres of parkland at Old Warden Park.

edm aerotec GmbH was founded on April 4th, 2011. The foundation stone was laid in the Geisleden industrial park on July 8th, 2011 and after a short construction period, the new premises were occupied on November 1st, 2011. In a working area of 2400 m², 30 employees develop, design and manufacture ultralight helicopters as well as repair and assemble machines and systems. The company has an electrical department that can process and manufacture a wide variety of electrical projects using modern 3D software. In the development and construction department, the designers work with the latest 3D CAD software from SolidWorks. Their own CFRP production enables parts to be manufactured quickly and reliably. The idea of developing their own air sports equipment arose from the passion for ultralight aviation, by company owner Engelbert Dreiling. After discussions with experienced fellow pilots, designers, the Federal Aviation Office and the German Ultralight Association, this idea became increasingly concrete. The comparatively low costs for a UL helicopter, its maintenance and repairs and obtaining a corresponding flight license make such a project increasingly interesting for a new target group. In their machine assembly department, prefabricated assemblies and parts are completed to create customer-specific machines and systems. They are also reliable service providers, for the assembly and commissioning of the machines at the customer's site. During helicopter assembly, they work according to strict international quality standards. Parts and assemblies, prefabricated by them, are installed according to assembly instructions and aviation standard EN 9100. They are also flexible when it comes to incorporating special customer requests. They manufacture the add-on parts of the CoAX 2 in their CFRP production. From the rotor blade to the tail boom, they are able to take over the production themselves, and thus guarantee 100% reliability in terms of quality and availability. The CFRP production has a cooling cell, a CNC cutter and various processing rooms. They are able to construct and manufacture the molds for a wide variety of components in-house. Whether the production of cable harnesses, or electrical system assemblies, will not be a problem for their electrical department. Their electrical engineers work with the most modern 3D software solutions for the design and construction of control cabinets, switchgear and flexible power distribution systems. Wiring harnesses can also be efficiently designed, documented and manufactured using this software. From development and construction to testing and subsequent certification of air sports equipment, everything takes place under one roof. Their designers work with the latest 3D CAD software from SolidWorks.

Aero Crew News is a free news source for pilots and flight attendants. Every month we feature an airline, charter or cargo company along with other aviation related articles. We also publish a free monthly magazine. Aero Crew News is a pilot-hiring magazine designed for pilots by pilots. Most months, we feature a mainline carrier, a regional carrier or a charter company that includes valuable information about the company, plus an interview gouge provided by an interviewer. Each month's issue of Aero Crew News also includes a variety of relevant articles, industry news, and a reference grid that compares more than 30 contractual aspects of three dozen airlines' pilot contracts. The Grid is continuously updated with current information and additional airlines' contracts. Prior to being called Aero Crew News, this magazine started off as a simple newsletter called, The Regional Grid. The Regional Grid ran from October 2015 to February 2015. The main driving force behind this newsletter was to compare contract information for pilots. This information was displayed in a grid format, hence the name. This newsletter only focused on contracts and information pertaining to the regional airlines. Our first issue had very limited information in the grid, but through social media we were able to gather individual contracts and grow ‘The Grid.’ We attracted new readers by adding various articles to our newsletter. The Regional Grid ran for four months before we joined forces with Aero Crew Solutions. February 2015 was the fifth and last issue of The Regional Grid. Aero Crew News has several regular monthly columns, which include Perspectives, a column created by Professional Pilots of Tomorrow (PPOT). This column is dedicated to helping pilots transition from student pilot to airline transport pilot. The Fitness column is there to help encourage healthy living on the road and ways to add exercise into your daily life. Baggage is another healthy-living column that focuses on your mindset to help readers cope with the stresses that life on the road brings. Squall Line focuses on weather phenomena that our crew members may encounter while on a trip. Knowledge Base is included to educate or refresh our readers in their knowledge on a variety of aviation skills. The Careers column is designed to help pilots prepare for all the aspects of their interview of a lifetime.
